Cosmo and our dog Duchess loved each other. This was a common site. Since Duchess passed away Cosmo loves to smell the lock of her hair we kept. A cat couldn't ask for a better dog friend. We have our memories of Duchess in our photo section. She was a cat person.

Cats can can have real social anxiety episodes and it can reinforce thinking patterns. There are several things you can do when your cat is nervous. First of all it's good to have a "safe place". Our youngest cat, Neo, was 9 weeks and feral when we got him. Supposedly they don't socialize well if the process doesn't begin in the first 7 weeks. We followed a simple three part plan and now Neo comes running whenever we call him and is very relaxed and affectionate.
- Whenever kitty is upset take them to their safe place. We like using a bathroom because it's a small room that's easy to close off. When the cat begins to pace the room we talk to them in a soothing voice and begin touching and stroking them.
- Cats use play in their social interactions and it's a key part of learning their hunting skills. When Neo showed signs of anxiety we used a toy to get him playing and change his focus.
- Catnip releases cats inhibitions too. We have had customers report that cats that lived in the closet came out after getting a Kitty Hooch toy. This has been reported to us as a lifestyle change for cats that previously came out only to eat or use the litter box.

Kitty Hooch has been our process of discovery. It is no longer a mystery why we were always disappointed with what we bought in chain stores. With rare exceptions the cat care products industry has set it's focus on low prices with high margins and abandoned any concern for quality or product expectations. If childrens toys were produced like cat toys those companies would be in court and if food products had the same quality as commercial catnip we would utterly reject them. We think of pets as family and yet the double standard and a lack of a clear understanding prevails with our pets. Catnip is a mint. Try to find powdered mint for human consumption or unpowdered catnip for cats. Commercial cat toys are a disaster in quality, durability and safety! Ironically many well intentioned people end up spending way more money on an endless parade of junk for their cat than they ever would for a few quality products that would yield better results and last many times longer.
