The Cat Buddy grew out of customer requests. You know who you are. We heard people loved our catnip and our innovation and quality, but their cat loved this shape. Not wanting to ever do a "me too" toy we came up with the cat buddy. Of course the first thing you notice is it's cute. But we never traded just on cute. The Cat Buddy is a tour de force toy. First of all it is refillable, yes, we finally did it. Like all our designs we use a pouch for several good reasons. One thing we never used and never will is fiber fill. We've heard too many horror stories. There is no way anyone can convice us there are safe fibers to get stuck on a cat's tongue. We don't want to risk a cat getting an impacted bowel from our products. Saftey matters, and Kitty Hooch is also a green company. So we use recycled blankets. Finally there is also an optional bell, and again safety is everything. We put it on the inside and after months of pondering and days of experimenting we came up with a solution that works and doesn't cost a fortune. Oh, we recycle cardboard for that solution. Cat Buddies are the same price with or without bell and each has it's own personality sewn into it's unique little face and ears. Pouches can be ordered on the order page. |

Our Baby Buddy has cornered the market on sheer cuteness. When we introduced the Cat Buddy a lot of our customers were delighted to be able to buy a large body toy with Kitty Hooch catnip. Everybody loved the look of the toy and all the features like being refillable, an optional bell and no fiber fill. The next customer request we heard was "Do you have a smaller version?" Here it is! The Baby buddy has all the features of the Cat Buddy, but at a mere six inches it is the baby size. Both toys use the same catnip pouch too. Pouches can be ordered on the order page. Cats love feathers! But the one we bought fell apart in a matter of minutes. Who needs that? So we set out to design a feather toy worthy of Kitty Hooch. After a year of testing and design work we were finally ready. Hoochfeather toys are made with selected high quality feathers bound together with colored duct tape. (You always knew it was good for everything.) Our first test toy lasted nearly a year! With more frequent play ours have lasted several months. Just being durable has never been enough. We also added a little pouch of catnip too. We finally had a durable feather toy. With some more refinement we got the right balance and spring feel. Our wholesale accounts considered the look a little rough so now we cover part of the duct tape with florist tape for cosmetics. The wand was a big improvement over commercial feather toys with it's durable construction and catnip pouch, but we wanted more. We created the very unique bird with the idea of getting really animated play. We haven't seen another detachable feather toy that goes on a fishing pole and has catnip in it. Because we place our customers first the loop in the nose will attach to all our poles and bungees. These are safe and durable toys. The bird can be played with loose, but is many times more interesting when it takes flight. The ultimate accessory for the bird is the super pole with it's fly fishing action! |

This is our first fishing pole. We now refer to it as our "child safe" version. (For serious play we recommend our super pole.) All our mice and birds come with a loop in the nose to attach to. The toy is attached to a ¼ inch diameter birch dowel with roughly two feet of 15 pound test fishing line and a lanyard. If you play too rough with kitty this is designed to break before injuring your cat. This toy combines your cat's instinctive love of motion with the inevitable intoxication of our catnip. Once kitty pounces we're off to the races...and cat racing is just part of the fun with the cat fishing action toy. Because there are some safety concerns about letting kitty play with this toy alone be sure to disconnect the mouse when not in play. Alternately you may store the toy in a drawer if it is attached. This is the absolute ultimate interactive cat toy, especially when paired with the bird! The super pole is more in every respect than the regular pole. It's a foot longer, thicker, has twice as heavy of fishing line, attaches at the base instead of the end (for two handed control) and extends roughly six feet past the end! Now you can get that real fishing action. We've heard of cats colliding mid air jumping for the bird and also fat cats getting trim and healthy from the exercise. When it's more fun to play with your cat you will play more often and for many cats that is there best opportunity for essential exercise. Here is another great cat distraction! All our mice and birds come prepped with a loop in the nose to attach to. Our Toy Bungee is made with elastic and durable material. It has an elastic loop on top you can attach to a door knob, your fingers or any number of things. This toy is similar to the cat fishing pole except it's safer with children and your cat play unsupervised. Your cats will love this! All our come with a loop in the nose to attach to. Our Super Toy Bungee is made with elastic and durable material like our regular Toy Bungee. Unlike our regular Toy Bungee this one is four times as long and designed to be hung from a door frame. It includes a small eye hook to screw into the frame and has clips on both ends. This was designed so your cat can have endless hours of unsupervised play. The fabric keeps it from getting over-stretched and loosing elasticity, chewed through or tangled around your cat's legs or neck. These are fun, durable and most importantly safe! Naked elastic toys for cats are unsafe. We wanted to provide a safe alternative. There is no more potent catnip anywhere! Our catnip is legendary. Here's why. Virtually all commercially produced catnip is harvested with machines that mulch up stalks and leaves. Much is never grown to flower and most is grown in the style of alfalfa. The reasons for this are cost, cost, cost. Our catnip is grown on a certified organic farm on Sauvie Island (Oregon) under gentle breezes. Not only did the USDA inspector say it was the best topsoil in the country but each plant gets plenty of room to spread and full exposure to sun and wind. They are hand weeded weekly and receive great care as they grow lush thick leaves and long pungent flowers. When we see the flowers have reached their peak energy and maximum oils each plant is hand cut and sun dried. They are carefully gathered and each leaf and flower is hand picked off the stalks and put in bins to be sealed and stored at ideal humidity. Our catnip costs more to produce than what most catnip retails for... but then we think most catnip is less interesting than a spearmint gum wrapper to most cats. Catnip works by the airbone oils (scent) reaching the receptors in your cat's nose. We know of no other dedicated whole catnip producer and nothing else is even close. Kitty Hooch really is white lightning next to the stale beer of commercial catnip.
Here's a treat for the finicky cat. This is made from whole chicken thighs that are marinaded 24 hours in a seasoned brine then slow cooked over a mesquite grill. The chicken is then stripped off the bone and chopped up kitty bite size. Then we slow jerk it and vacuum seal it with bits of catnip flower for that extra appeal. They don't intoxicate so much as entice. Cats know quality and this is gormet. This is popular especially if your cat craves people food. We have seen roughly 90% of cats like this. Unlike our toys we cannot gaurantee this product. As we all know there is no accounting for a cats mood with food.
Scratch control that's permanent, odor control and stain remover... Have we lost our mind? Let's start at the top. When your cat scratches you will notice the first thing they do is sniff, then scratch. That's why chain stores sell bitter apple. Spray it on and your cat is supposed to be annoyed and go somewhere else. Unfortunately the best case scenario means you have to spray that spot every day as long as you have cats and the worst case scenario is your cat bats the bottle around like it was catnip. That's what one customer said. So what to do? Let's start with a little known fact that seems forehead slapping obvious in retrospect...

Kitty Hooch cat scratching furniture is made with the highest quality matierals
and is the only cat furniture that comes with a wear warranty! Every piece we make is either refillable or can be made refillable. If it is not refillable it has a finger of catnip rolled up in it on at least one scratching surface for several months of training. Here is where years of experience in craftsmanship pay off. The carpeting is high grade carpet remnants. Mass produced commercial cat furniture uses Low grade "apartment" carpet they buy by the roll. You can literraly grab carpet and pull it out. It was never made to endure stress and will be shredded in a few months. Low end commercial posts tend to use plastic post caps and wire brads from a nail gun. That can make posts very fragile. We use lathe cut cedar plugs in the top and bottom of the posts and hot glue and grabber screws to hold them in. Larger commerical cat furniture tends to be built with heavier lumber then house framing, takes four men and a boy to move and has lag bolt fastening. Over time the stress cats put on the post jumping on it causes the post to get wobbly. Our assembly hardware is all machine thread into embedded metal parts so these posts can be taken apart and put together every week if you like. They won't loosen up Kitty Hooch is always about the very best. There are options for all our furniture including sisal and refillable posts. Most importantly, your cat will love their new furniture.
The Door Hanger is a great little value item. It's made with our high quality carpet remnants that last and last, it has a finger of our great catnip inside and it can take on multiple roles. All at a cost that is hard to beat. The Door Hanger can be hung from a door with it's soft attached nylon rope. It can be leaned against an item of furniture that is being attacked. It can also be laid flat too. These are just great general purpose mobile scratchers. 
Our Sisal door hanger is a popular modern classic. For over a year we would not produce one because of our concerns about the sisal scratching doors up. Then we got the idea to add two little carpeted bumpers on the back. Finally we hit on the ultimate ideas to embed the sisal into the board vertically instead of wrapping it horizontally and to make it refillable with a door and brass hardware. This is more attractive to people and cats than the regular door hanger. Best of all if your cat likes Kitty Hooch you know they will be scratching this. If you're unsure then try a toy to see their reaction, but we do gaurantee they will use our refillable stock furniture items (since they would be like new on return) and like all our furniture this comes with a 6 month wear warrantee. 
Our regular scratching post looks a lot like what you might find in a chain store, except it does look nicer. Why is that? Well first of all we take the standard 16 inch post design and use the innovative split bottom to make it easy to pack in small boxes. Another interesting thing you will see with our posts is that they are full wrap tops with no plastic. This produces a much more attractive post for your home.
From there it is much different starting with high quality carpet remnants that wear for years and cedar plugs top and bottom. I tripped over a commercial post once and it never stood up again. You have to try to destroy this post! Cat furniture should be designed to hold up to the stress of real life. This post can also be accessorized with the new Sping Bird accessory.
Our Sisal Post starts out like our regular 16 inch post, but then it gets some special treatment. We wind nearly 50 feet of 3/8 inch sisal rope by hand hot glueing it every step of the way. If you look carefully at the picture you can see the lump where the finger of catnip is. Also we do a full wrap like our carpeted posts, but this time we continue the sisal all the way to the hole for the Spring Bird. These posts are good looking, long lasting and they pack a punch with our good catnip. If your cat likes sisal they will love this.

Cosmo is helping here to model the Two Level post with a custom top. This is very popular because cats love to get up high. It's how they rule the world. The custom top has a large angle cut out that cats can get through (they're very nimble) but they don't need to. They can climb up the side easily too.
The nice thing is this post is made to assemble very easily and can be taken apart and reassembled hundreds of times thanks to it's metal to metal hardware. You can easily see the cedar used in the posts which is both light and durable. To assemble you just need a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench or pliers.
Sure you'd like to grow catnip. It can be grown indoors or out. Catnip grown from seeds tends to attract less attention than transplanted nip because handling it releases oils.
